In recent drawings and paintings, the process mimics the message. The pieces are layered; the bottom layer is a fragment of a room-sized drawing/painting of forest land. Overpainting both reinforces and obliterates the image beneath, paralleling the "race" between efforts to preserve the natural environment, and its destruction.
The color, rose, although sumptuous and pleasing, has found its way into some pieces as a reference to the common practice of looking at environmental issues through rose-colored glasses.
My most recent paintings are an extension of these thoughts, with the addition of colors used in our culture to communicate "danger". I've been intrigued by the juxtaposition of soothing foliage, hard-edged lines and jarring colors. More Information Damos Links
